Nintendo Wii - Nintendo Wii to Launch Q4

Nintendo Wii - Nintendo Wii to Launch Q4

Nintendo, known throughout the industry for years of video game ingenuity, recently launched the Nintendo Wii , a video game console that features wireless controllers, advanced control capabilities, and a handsome kick in power. Announced at this year's E3 Expo, Wii is likely to be available on the retail market by the year's end. The video game manufacturer says by the fourth quarter, Wii could be competing heavily with rivals Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360.

Wii features an unconventional controlling system. First, there is a wireless, motion-sensor controller. In addition, you can also use a nunchuck controller as a weapon of choice or as a shield or other device. Depending on the game you're playing, your controller can morph into a tennis racket, golf club, or sword. The controllers are meant to be actively used, like a real tennis racket or flight simulator.

The design is created to encourage more movement and to make the games more user friendly. After all, you don't play tennis by pushing "A" or "X" keys, you play it by swinging a racket. Nintendo is trying to capitalize on the realism of the games in this way, as opposed to over-the top graphics or media additions.

However, the games system is said to have hi-tech advances. It offers USB 2.0 and 802.11 b/g wireless networking, 512 MB of flash memory, and support for SD cards of varying size. A price has not yet been set for the console, but Wii is supposedly going to be more affordably priced than its graphics-loaded counterparts on the market.
